700 innovations supported through NHS Innovation Service
Over 700 innovations have now been assessed and given access to tailored, end-to-end support from expert support organisations through the NHS Innovation Service.
The service is designed to help innovators navigate the complexities of the NHS, whilst simultaneously helping the NHS to find new innovations that meet its needs.
Since launching in 2022, the service has been supporting innovators who complete a digital innovation record with access to bespoke advice and practical support from 11 leading organisations with expertise in the development and adoption of health innovation.
The platform has supported a huge range of health innovation, including digital tools to support mental health; clothing tailored to support patients living with long-term catheters and ports; improving care for people with inflammatory bowel diseases; and at-home fertility screening.
The service supports innovations at all stages of development, from ideas to prototypes to innovations already deployed in NHS services. The support includes everything from early-stage advice to commercialisation, evidence generation, procurement and getting registered with the relevant regulatory authorities.
“The NHS Innovation Service has been able to give us scalability, credibility and independent verification of our evidence. It’s also given us the ability to be introduced to lots of different agencies all at once.”
