2,000 innovations supported through the NHS Innovation Service
More than 2,000 innovations, which are tackling some of the NHS’s biggest challenges, have now been given access to tailored, end-to-end support from healthcare experts through the NHS Innovation Service.
The service is designed to support innovators, and ensure a ready pipeline of ideas that meets the NHS’s biggest challenges, by bringing together 12 partners with the experience, knowledge and expertise in developing and supporting wide-spread adoption of healthcare innovations.
Since launching in July 2022, the NHS Innovation Service has provided innovators with access to tailored advice and practical support from expert organisations across the health and care innovation ecosystem, to deliver on the ambitions in the 10 Year Health Plan.
The growing pipeline reflects many of the areas where innovation has the potential to make a significant difference to patients and the NHS.
Innovations supported through the service include 404 relating to mental health, 338 relating to cardiovascular health, 277 relating to cancer and 248 relating to maternity.
The pipeline also demonstrates how innovators are responding to the NHS’s strategic priorities. More than 1,000 innovations are helping to digitise the health system, while 965 relate to preventive care and 353 support the shift from hospital to community-based care.
The NHS Innovation Service supports innovations at all stages of development – from early ideas and prototypes through to solutions already being deployed in NHS services.
By bringing together expertise from across its partner organisations, the service helps innovators understand what they need to demonstrate and navigate the NHS innovation pathway. Support can include evidence generation, commercialisation, regulation, procurement and adoption.
